“We Come In Peace” Concert

Robert W. Boardman conducted the South Bend Youth Symphony Orchestra in “We Come in Peace”—a cinematic, space-themed program that took audiences on an interstellar journey through some of the most iconic music in film and video game history. Designed to engage young performers and captivate audiences of all ages, the concert celebrated humanity’s fascination with space, exploration, and the unknown. Performed at the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center, the program combined sweeping orchestral classics with powerful modern scores, including:

  • Richard Strauss – Also Sprach Zarathustra (Prelude)

  • John Williams – Jurassic Park Theme

  • Michael Giacchino – Rogue One Suite

  • Martin O’Donnell & Michael Salvatori – HALO Suite

  • Hans Zimmer – Interstellar Suite

  • Michael Giacchino – Star Trek

  • Gustav Holst – Jupiter (from The Planets, featuring I Vow to Thee, My Country)

  • John Williams – Duel of the Fates (from The Phantom Menace)

Boardman’s vision fused classical gravitas with the excitement of contemporary soundtracks, offering young musicians the opportunity to explore a wide range of expressive styles and orchestral challenges. “We Come in Peace” was both a musical adventure and a celebration of imagination, innovation, and the thrill of discovery.
